Enjoy <3 5.  Love On The Run  - Broken Bells The latest and likely final single from Danger Mouse and James Mercer in the lead-up to their return as Broken Bells is yet another that lulls you in and grows over time. The wandering composition and spacey echoing instrumentation aren't likely to blow you away immediately but every time I heard the song I found myself enjoying it more and more as it went on.  Listen 4.  Belinda Says  - Alvvays Alvvays continued dive into the world of shoegaze has resulted in heavier and heavier singles and with one hit after another, it's easy to hope they never look back. The noise isn't just there for the sake of it either these songs are an all-out rush that never get less exciting. FIIIIIIIINALLY. After two weeks of absolute snoozing on the singles chart we are finally back to a week that has it all. Big new releases from huge artists that actually live up to the hype, continued quality music from some of the best acts around and even a few surprises working their way into the mix.  Enjoy <3 5.  Too Much  - Freddie Gibbs (Feat. Moneybagg Yo) Sometimes simplicity is all it takes. The hook of this song is a perfect example because it manages to spin some absolute bliss out of a short sequence of refrains. While I wish there was a bit more to separate the verses from the hook I have to say this song goes hard in all the same ways one could hope a Freddie Gibbs track would.  Listen 4.  New Gold  - Gorillaz (Feat. Tame Impala & Bootie Brown) Even though this high-profile collaboration doesn't quite live up to the hype throughout I will say that it gets off to an excellent start that is more than enough to land a spot on the list. Nothing special this week, a blend of highly anticipated new songs but not very many that really knocked my socks off. Enjoy <3 5. Edge Of The Edge - Panda Bear & Sonic Boom Am I crazy or is the second taste of Panda and Sonic's upcoming collaborative album kind of Beatles-ey? Not even just in the way that much psychedelic pop music can be it feels directly inspired on both the production and songwriting end from some of the Beatles most accessible tunes. Despite some of the silliness they do manage to nail the refrains in a way that grabs me right out of the gate. Listen 4. Happiness  - The 1975 The 1975's new 80's flavored pop rock song shows that they've learned a lot about the nostalgic style since they last took it on for their sophomore record. Not wasting any more time.  Enjoy <3 5.  Graveyard Love  - The Mars Volta While it's clear that we won't get the full picture of this new Mars Volta record until it can be digested in its entirety but these singles certainly seem to predict a change of pace. With clearer and hookier melodies, less overwhelming instrumentation and a short runtime it's a fine outing though one that certainly stands out for the band. Listen 4.  RUN  - Killer Mike (Feat. Young Thug) Killer Mike is back with his first solo single since Run The Jewels became america's sweethearts and it features a fellow Atlanta legend in the recently incarcerated Young Thug. For the most part the track is a parade of Mike's accomplishments as a veteran in the hip hop community who has been one of the definitive conscious voices in the genre for over 20 years. Singles are the engine upon which the music industry runs. From stan Twitter to the Hot 100 the best way to drum up hype and all the revenue that comes with it is on the back of a great single. For the 5th straight year  it's time to look at all the great singles released by artists new and old throughout 2020 and rank them. Unlike the songs and albums lists that will follow this one over the next 2 days this isn't strictly about the best in terms of sheer quality alone. The list takes quality into consideration alongside cultural significance. reception within an artists listener base and how the songs fit into the context of a band or artists image or discography at large. With all these factors combined I put together my list of the 100 best singles I heard in 2020.  100.
