Paramore is one of the definitive pop punk bands of the 2000s collecting mainstream hits, critical acclaim, and beloved deep cuts. After a shift from the youthful pop-punkiness into a more colorful and dancy instrumental style on the band's 2017 album After Laughter  they've been quiet for years while frontwoman Hayley Williams recorded two solo albums. Beach Bunny is a Chicago based indie pop band who first blew up on the back of their song Prom Queen  in 2019. They transitioned into 2020 with a debut album on Mom + Pop records early in the year and are following it up with this 4 track EP of songs recorded during quarantine.  Review By Lav: I enjoyed Beach Bunny's debut last year quite a bit as a simple, fun, surfy indie pop record that flashed a ton of potential. I was hoping to catch the band at Shaky Knees Festival later in the year but it was obviously cancelled and I've been waiting since for more material from Beach Bunny. I was surprised it came so soon with the Blame Game  EP and a bit nervous that this was nothing more than a B-Side collection from the debut album. Whether it is or not may be hard to ever know for sure but it certainly doesn't sound like it because most of these tracks I really enjoy.  The EP had a lead single that came out last year and I quite enjoy it. Hayley Williams is a Tennessee based singer and songwriter who has served as the frontwoman for pop-punk band Paramore for over a decade. After 4 records with the band Hayley is venturing out as a solo act with Petals For Armor  her solo debut. Review By Lavender: It is safe to say that I have never been a fan of Paramore. When they were in their most popular pop-punk phase during the 2000's I found them more annoying than engaging, but it was their follow-up self-titled album in 2013 that really rubbed me the wrong way and still does to this day. A lot of people who we're never fans of the band found themselves coming around to the fourth record the band dropped which was a huge change of pace that dropped the edginess for a much more approachable sound. While even I will admit the lead single Hard Times  is a great track I can't say the record really won me over, being the best Paramore album just isn't saying much in my book.
