Parquet Courts are a New York based garage and punk rock outfit who garnered a cult like underground following for their hard-hitting performances and socially conscious delivery. They teamed up with super producer Danger Mouse for their 2018 album Wide Awake!  which became their most popular release to date and one of the most universally acclaimed rock records of the last few years.  Review By Lav: After being a bit hit or miss on Parquet Courts in their early days once they signed to Rough Trade records and released Human Performance  I was much more on board. Honorable Mentions: Ty Dolla $ign This year Ty Dolla $ign only released one real studio album, his collaboration with Jeremih Mihty . But in the background he was one of the best feature artist of the year, if an album was important you can imagine Ty provided some vocals whether credited or uncredited. We're back. And what a shitty week to be back. Some real digging had to be done to assemble 10 tracks I can genuinely reccomend to you this week, but I've done it nonetheless so let's get started. 10. "The City" YG Hootie (Ft. Kendrick Lamar) YG Hootie shows his lack of experience as an MC all over this track. Barely stumbling through offbeat meaningless bars the song actually turns out pretty good for what it is. Kendrick is quality as always but nothing special for his status. The chorus really brings it home, it's simple and catchy, which is really what makes this one worth returning to. YG Hootie by himself doesn't seem like an appealing proospect and his next track may not even make enough noise to come across my glance, but this song is just good enough. 9.
