Margo Price is a Nashville based country singer who first broke out as a signee to Jack White's Third Man Records. This is her third record and her first since leaving Third Man Records, which is produced entirely by Sturgill Simpson.  Review By Lav: I love Margo Price's debut album Midwest Farmers Daughter  to this day and I was extremely excited for her future. While her sophomore record wasn't quite as much of a hit with me and I was skeptical about why she separated from third man records, hearing that Sturgill Simpson has such a big hand in this record made me more confident it wouldn't be an attempt at going commercial. Now that the album is here for the most part I enjoy it, and it avoids pitfalls that can make modern country so agonizing.  The record a few singles of which I only disliked one, Stone Me . The track is a piano ballad without much poise to it and an insultingly basic hook that really didn't do much for me in between boring verse passages. Heart...

Kesha is an LA based pop singer who blew up in the early 2010's off of some huge viral singles and a pair of successful albums.After a long break that included plenty of non music related drama she emerged with a brand new sound on the much more personal and ballad driven Rainbow. Now on her fourth record High Road  she looks to blend her old and new styles, and even some other sounds we've never heard from her before into a defining moment. Review By Lavender: Kesha is an artist that I've always liked just a little bit less than most people. When she was at her commercial peak she was dropping big hits, but critics we're going after the short-sightedness of her music. And given how dated some of those songs feel just ten years later proves they were right. Sturgill Simpson  is a Kentucky based country music singer-songwriter who has made waves in the past few years for combining country music with numerous other genres and pushing the genre forward with his Best Album Grammy nominated 2016 record A Sailor's Guide To Earth . Review By Lavender: I first stumbled upon Sturgill Simpson based on a recommendation for his last record and it turned out to be a really positive experience. I was glad to see him score a Grammy nomination and some well deserved recognition on the back of that record and was excited to see what he had coming next. Unfortunately the record has all I needed to hear about the blaring 70's rock influence that appears across this entire album, and it works far less often than it doesn't.
