Imploding The Mirage - The Killers: Review

The Killers   are a Las Vegas based indie and alternative rock band who have been dropping consistently successful studio albums since their 2004 debut Hot Fuss . This was the bands first record without regular guitarist Dave Keuning and it was produced in full by Johnathan Rado of Foxygen fame.  Review By Lavender: It is safe to say I was very very excited for this record. I saw the bands last album Wonderful Wonderful  as a really solid and critically underrated album from the band and they have a back catalog that I think can stand up to most any other bands from the 2000's. Given my love for the groups glamorous dramatic alternative rock sound the pairing with produced Johnathan Rad seemed perfect given that Foxygen have helped carry the torch for that sound into modern indie rock. Seeing Other People - Foxygen: Review

Foxygen are a California indie rock duo that blew up in 2013 with their 3rd official release and have since dropped three albums met with reviews ranging from praise for 2017's  Hang  to ire for 2014's  ...And Star Power.  After the release of three well received singles Foxygen had the attention of the indie community for the release of  Seeing Other People  sliding in just before a wave of huge indie releases in May.  Review By Lavender: There are very few indie bands this decade that I've handed out praise to like Foxygen. Their first big studio project dropped in 2011 with  Take The Kids Off Broadway.  It was just under 40 minutes of wild instrumentals blended with theatrical performances and fantastic songwriting for one of the most unique experiences that year had to offer. The Top 10 Artists Of 2017 While the Albums, Songs and EPs list celebrate individual achievements of greatness artist of the Year takes a step further. Everyone comes into the start of a year in different places and everyone leaves a changed artist, whether drastic or minor. The Top Artist Of The Year has always been one of the more subjective lists as it takes into account the perception of an artist beyond their music where opinions differ even further. Acts like Kendrick Lamar and LCD Soundsystem released albums that would easily land a first timer on this list, but when compared to their greater discographies we're left to wonder what could have been.
