The Tallest Man On Earth is the singer-songwriter outfit of Swedish musician Kristian Matsson. He's been releasing music under the project since the late 2000's often with extensive critical acclaim, with his raw folk stylings drawing comparisons to Bob Dylan in particular. Henry St.  is Matsson's 6th studio album and follows last year's covers album Too Late For Edelweiss .  Review by Lav: I've been a supporter and enjoyer of The Tallest Man On Earth for quite a long time and even though most of his best work predates my blogging years I still approach any new music he drops with quite a bit of anticipation. Even after coming away from the singles on the album with mixed feelings, I was looking forward to what would distinguish this record from the others in Kristian's discography. One month into the year and we've had three VERY solid release weekends as far as new singles go. This one didn't exactly shine as bright but there are still tracks worth hearing.  5.  Layla  - Unknown Mortal Orchestra For the second single in a row I'm not blown away immediately by a new UMO track and for almost the exact same reasons. There's some very solid songwriting here and sounds that I would imagine could craft immaculately textured vibes if they came from a different era in the band's career. But like Captain Cook  before it the instrumentation here is pretty raw and scant. I could see the refrains here winning me over with time but I'm not sure the song has anything like the intimately plucked strings that eventually changed my mind on their last single. Kristian Matsson AKA The Tallest Man On Earth is a Swedish folk singer who came to prominence in 2008 when his debut album Shallow Grave  took off in the indie scene given his tight similarities to Bob Dylan. But unlike a Greta Van Fleet approach Kristian did a great job replicating what Dylan did well and evolving it into the 21st century better than Dylan did himself. With a series of albums containing captivating performances and low-fi folk instrumentation he has been one of the most acclaimed artists in the true folk scene since he first arrived.  Review By Lavender: If there is one thing Tallest Man On Earth has achieved for the past decade plus it's consistency. Album after album he drops some excellent folk music with a pretty fantastic base of tunes that are always at least enjoyable while their on.
