Japanese Breakfast is the indie music project of singer, songwriter, performer and author Michelle Zauner. She burst onto the scene in 2016 with an indie darling debut album following her time as frontwoman of Little Big League. Her serious subject matter and instantaneous, infectious songwriting caught the attention of many indie fans. She followed it up quickly with a spacier more dream pop inspired sophomore album that also received tons of critical acclaim, before forecasting yet another change in sound with the singles leading up to Jubilee . The Extended Play is a curious little collection of songs more substantial than a single but not quite as definitive as an album. Despite how often it's overlooked there's plenty of great music every year delivered on various EPs ranging from the most mainstream to the most experimental artists. Whether they're a brief dive into an alternative sound, a tighter collection of thematically aligned songs or just a taster to guide fans over between more substantial releases each of these EPs proved that they can work excellently in the short form.  10. Charm And Mirror  - Kitty Kitty's dive into psychedelic synth pop was certainly an unexpected career move but she continues to impress with one project after another. Bumper is the new collaborative project of Michelle Zauner the woman behind Japanese Breakfast, and Ryan Galloway a multi-instrumentalist member of indie trio Crying. The quarantine collaboration seemingly came out of nowhere with no singles and a late announcement for the EP's release.  Review By Lavender: I was all in on this project as soon as I first heard about it, only a few days before it was actually released. I've enjoyed both of Michelle's records as Japanese Breakfast particularly her 2017 sophomore record and I was wondering when we would hear from her next. I was particularly intrigued with Crying's 2016 debut record and surprised we hadn't heard anything from the band since.
