Best New Tracks Of The Week: November 26th, 2023

Rough week, we're getting to that time of year. Despite the slim pickings I did my best to make a complete list.

5. Free My N***a - Sexyy Red
This one isn't all that complicated. It's a pretty dry week for new releases and despite a chorus that does almost nothing for me, Sexyy Red's intensity and personality carry the track through compelling verses that don't stick around beyond their welcome.

4. Cosca - Conway The Machine & Wun Two
If you did a double take hearing this instrumental and thinking it was Freddie Gibbs and Tyler, The Creator's Something To Rap About, you aren't alone. Despite the similar vibe sonically Conway is definitely focusing his bars elsewhere. He takes on the ways that he's trying to overcome from past traumas, looking forward and moving on. It isn't my favorite song from this new series of collaborations with Wun Two, but it's another solid entry.

3. Labios Mordidos - Kali Uchis (feat. Karol G)
Kali Uchis is taking her second entirely Spanish album pretty seriously and recruiting some pretty major names in Latin music. Karol G is her biggest collaborator yet and the pair compliment each other well even if it feels pretty familiar for both, especially Karol. Despite the familiar feelings the refrains here absolutely soar and the songwriting does more than enough to overcome the standard and recognizable presentation.

2. Collision Data - Iglooghost (feat. Marina Herlop)
Iglooghost is continuing his ambition to create sounds entirely out of this universe. This track is darker with more electronic grinding than he typically has but it's a very welcome change. The dialing up in sonic intensity still contrasts perfectly with the sweet guest vocals to create something enveloping but still detailed enough to pour over every inch of.

1. Oral - Bjork & Rosalia
After hearing ABOUT this song for weeks without getting to actually hear it, my hopes were pretty high. But from the moment that Rosalia's voice hits this song it becomes an absolute gem throughout. These are two of the most angelic vocalists on planet earth and they don't overcomplicate things. The song is full of stunning melodies, harrowing harmonies, and potent nuance is almost every syllable. These two come together and serve up something exactly as magical as you'd expect.
