Best New Tracks Of The Week: October 9th, 2022
Better late than never. Enjoy <3
5. Never Gonna Change - Sharon Van Etten
If you know Sharon Van Etten then you can probably predict what this song is going to sound like going into it, even if the fusion of Weyes Blood style chamber with a dash of classic heartland still manages to be compelling. It probably also won't surprise fans that despite it being a deep cut that missed the official tracklist of Sharon's album earlier this year, it's still great and should be headed directly into the ears of indie folk fans.

4. The Loneliest Time - Carly Rae Jepsen (Feat. Rufus Wainwright)
The singles from Carly's new album have been pretty all over the place in terms of style but very consistent in terms of quality. This sort of disco ballad which yes, randomly features Rufus Wainwright actually turns out great. The song has the emotional poise to justify playing it a little slow but Carly refuses to make something you can't dance to, with wonderful results.
3. What They Call Us - Fever Ray
Not only is this the first new Fever Ray music in years, but it also comes with a spoonful of production from Karin's brother Olaf, which should grab the attention of any Knife fans out there. With those expectations lifted onto it the song still manages to live up to them despite not being quite as experimental as the previous Fever Ray project. Arguably in a return to some accessibility, Karin managed to hit on a formula that could potentially work wonders.
2. EVERYBODY - Jimmy Edgar (Feat. 10k.Caash & Zeelooperz)
After Jimmy Edgar really impressed me with his feature-heavy album last year I was excited to see a new project in the works with yet another impressive feature list. The singles so far have been somehow even crazier than I anticipated and this is one of the most insane and futuristic bangers I've heard all year. The zany personalities and wild mix of everything involved are a massive hit with me.
1. 93696 - Liturgy
Between the announcement of a new Liturgy album coming next year, the release of a massive 14-minute new single, and the fact that it comes with a full EP rework of the track, it was just a parade of good news for transcendental black metal fans this week. The constantly shifting collection of insane riffs and blistering vocals is exactly what I was hoping for when I first saw the announcement of the track.
