Best New Songs Of The Week: June 26th, 2022

If you like big names, this week had them. If you like reoccurring favorites, this week had them. If you liked random ass flips of chance, this week had them. These are the best of it all.

5. Run - YG (Feat. Tyga, 21 Savage & BIA)
Talk about a roster with potential. If you're familiar with YG's music you're gonna hear a lot of qualities you're familiar with in both the instrumental and his lyrical approach but it's still quite an infectious sound. Two artists who can certainly deliver on a feature show up on the back end of the song and frankly, Savage and BIA deliver.

4. Blacklight Shine - The Mars Volta
If you're the type of music fan who didn't really care that Beyonce released a new single then you're probably also the type of music fan who was really excited for The Mars Volta to come back after a decade hiatus. What they returned with might not have the same kinetic energy of some of their best tracks but it has an instrumental variety that really sticks.

3. Cracker Island - Gorillaz (Feat. Thundercat)
This highly anticipated crossover is exactly as funk-tacular as you'd hope. The instantly recognizable slick basslines and falsettos of Thundercat blend in perfectly with the trademark cheap synths and deadpan vocals from Damon Albarn. The two worlds mesh around an impressively catchy tune that grabs your attention right away and holds onto it.

2. BARELY WOKE - Moor Mother (Feat. Wolf Weston)
This past month we've been able to count on one good Moor Mother single pretty much every week and while she builds towards one of my most anticipated albums of the year she delivered yet another hit with this track. The glittery beat, beautiful guest vocals and lethal lyrical focus prove again why Moor Mother is so special as a musician and musical visionary.

1. BREAK MY SOUL - Beyonce
The summer of dance continues with what many would consider the most anticipated new song in all of music this year. Beyonce returned with a bouncy and confident take on dance music that is beyond catchy enough to stick around all summer and with the same infectious confidence we've come to expect from her music. While it was always going to be hard to live up to the anticipation, this comes pretty close.
