Best New Songs Of The Week: November 14th

The five best tracks that came out this past week listed below:

5. Waiting - PUP
The newest single from the PUP catalog is an absolute rager that explodes with jagged instrumentation and that classic punk attitude and flair we've come to expect from the band. They pull off a surprisingly emotional edge to the whole thing as the songs wonders why you continue to wait around for someone, when all signs tell you to just go. It's a punk song with more to it than meets the eye.

4. La Fama - Rosalia Feat. The Weeknd
The latest in Rosalia's seemingly infinite streak of high profile collaborations is R&B crossover king The Weeknd. It actually follows the pairs collaboration on last years Blinding Lights Remix but takes a much less pop approach sonically. It deploys a much darker instrumental palette reminiscent of Abel's early days but with a distinct Latin sound, and the blend pulls you in from it's very first moments.

3. Alaska - Pinegrove
Another Pinegrove single and the band continues to miss a beat with yet another eruption of youthful angst set to perfectly toned indie folk instrumentation. It's one of their louder and more upbeat songs which gives it an emotional kind of thrash and bash energy across a short two minute runtime. The band synthesizes the effectiveness of their sound down to perfection on Alaska

2. Electra Rex - Arca
Arca's newest banger is one of her most alien yet with pounding bass hits backing rattling layers of percussion. All serves to create a jittery and restless palette for her heavily manipulated vocals to fly in and out of the mix with a relentless intensity. The song is a futuristic banger if there ever was one.

1. Jupiter - Jenny Hval
Norwegian experimental songwriter Jenny Hval is back with a new single that follows up her acclaimed Lost Girls album earlier this year. She opens the song with her trademark blend of vocals that come off as reserved and occasionally nearly spoken word with one of the most robust instrumental palettes of her career to back them up. The song spirals into a spacey pseudo drone across it's nearly 8 minute runtime but never stops playing with beautiful sounds throughout.
