March 2020 Recap

Here is a quick summary of all the records I reviewed this month.

With some major production issues and a lack of true highlights Shadows is one of the most inconsequential rap albums of the year

After a long break fro releases under the Caribou moniker Dan Snaith returns with a bright, catchy and relentlessly sweet series of glittery electronic songs that sound so refreshing this year.
Review

The biggest fault on Changes is that no part of who Justin is as a person or an artist makes into any of these generic focus-grouped contemporary pop tunes.
Review

Eternal Atake may have sounded cool in 2017. But three years past Uzi's peak the record is bloated, behind the times and is filled with songs that sound like nobody involved even tried.
Review

The Uzi record that did a much better job at living up to expectations was his surprise second release. Filled with great features, much improved beats and a newfound swagger in Uzi's delivery LUV is comfortably the best Uzi project to date.

Best Coast is back with the exact same brand of easy to swallow indie rock that was really cool in 2010 and has slowly been getting less cool since.
Review

While the album may not have been what many expected of Jay Electronica's long awaited debut album, it is a treat that sees him and Jay-Z trading off some of the most thought provoking verses in all of hip hop this year.
Review

Man Alive! may be my favorite of Kin Krule's releases yet, but I still won't pretend I'm seeing the hype.
Review

The new Weeknd record is Abel's most fully realized project since his legendary mixtape days and is already setting up to be one of the best albums in popular music this year.
Review

Allie X's proper first album is an exercise in mimicking the styles of as many popular pop artists as possible in the shortest amount of time.
Review

The often teased new record from Donald Glover is the mix of a number of great ideas that I enjoy with a handful of some of the weakest concepts of the entire Childish Gambino discography.

On Suga Megan Thee Stallion proves she is one of the best at making bad bitch trap bangers and one of the worst at making auto-crooner ballads.

Four Tet is back with a pleasant if not slightly overloaded new record that is sure to treat you to some wonderfully gorgeous soundscapes.
