Candle Cove Singles Chart: 8/2/19
1. Angel Olsen - All Mirrors
Angel returns with her first new single since 2017 and her first proper album since 2016 to top one of the best release weekends of the summer. The Asheville based singer finally broke through with her 2016 record and after a B-Sides records she is back in full force with All Mirrors and a #1 debut.
2. Ariana Grande - boyfriend (Feat. Social House)
After dropping two great records in the span of six months Ari took a well deserved break from releasing music, but once again has seen fit to release a new single with massive waves of hype behind it, falling victim to a highly anticipated debut that keeps it from being her second #1 of 2019.
3. Rapsody - ibtihaj (Feat. D'Angelo and RZA)
Rapsody returns after dropping a great album and single in Power in 2017 and she returns to the chart here with some eye popping features in legendary and reclusive R&B singer D'Angelo and Wu-Tang member RZA.
4. Brockhampton - I've Been Born Again
After much teasing Brockhampton finally shows up in 2019 with their first single of the year and as big of a release weekend as they dropped into they fail to eclipse member Kevin Abstract's lead single #1 earlier this year, and don't appear to be on their way to reaching their record tying 4 #1 placements in 2017.
5. HAIM - Summer Girl
HAIM's big return had #1 potential but gets slid down to #5 on a huge week. Despite its placement on the chart there is a huge wave of hype behind their return for the first time since 2017.
6. IDLES - I Dream Guillotine
IDLES continue their prolific and successful run of releasing music with their second single of 2019 placing lower than it probably should have given how busy the week has been.
7. Foals - Black Bull
Foals drop the lead single for the second half of their 2019 record Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost and make an attempt to re-energize their sound and keep it fresh for a second release in one year.
8. Blanck Mass - Love Is A Parasite
Blanck Mass is a huge victim of this busy week dropping their third single to the lowest debut they've had all year, but make not mistake the excitement for their upcoming album at the end of August is still going strong and if another singles is dropped it should be competitive.
9. Tove Lo - Bad As The Boys (Feat. ALMA)
Tove Lo drops her first song as a lead single in 2019 and with ALMA in preparation of her first record since 2017. Yet another hyped up project is victimized by a huge week, expect Tove's next single to place much higher.
10. Sleater-Kinney - Can I Go On
With yet another single from their new record the inconsistencies coming from Sleater-Kinney's camp are getting a little bit tired, but the singles from the legendary rock band will obviously continue to place.
11. The New Pornographers - Falling Down The Stairs Of Your Smile
The New Pornographers return out of nowhere to drop a surprise new single that may be leading to a new era from a group who can usually be counted on for some decent jangly indie rock.
12. Refused - Blood Red
Refused hasn't quite had the return that many anticipated from the legendary punk band but with legacy on their side the band always has the chance to return with something great.
13. DIIV - Skin Game (Down From #1)
DIIV's blissful and shoegazey sound is more than welcome in 2019 and with a fantastic tune behind it this song holds tight for a strong second week.
14. Taylor Swift - The Archer (Down From #3)
By far Taylor's best single of the year so far the blissful and lovely The Archer vaults one spot for a #14 week two placement, her first track of the year to do so.
15. Liam Gallagher - Once (Down From #5)
Liam continues to surprise with a third single and a third second week placement as his album looks better and better by the week and he hangs on to the #15 spot for the second time this year.
