Candle Cove Singles Chart: 8/10/19
1. Tool - Fear Inoculum
For the first time in months a singles week has produced 15 new debuts all in one week and it is headlined by the first new single from legendary metal band Tool since their last record in 2006. After finally releasing their back-catalog on streaming services last week they have taken the next step to dropping the newest song in promotion of their highly anticipated upcoming album.
2. Lana Del Rey - Looking For America
Lana Del Rey follows up the announcement of her fifth studio album with the release of one of the songs that didn't make the cut, but addresses America in the wake of yet another two mass shootings. The track will certainly turn heads and help build up hype for Norman Fucking Rockwell two weeks before its release.
3. Iglooghost - Lockii (Feat. Kai Whinston & BABii)
Iglooghost is back with his first release in 2019 and he recruits some featured artists he has worked with before resulting in a track that will likely reel many of his fans right back in as they anticipate his next major release.
4. Megan Thee Stallion - Hot Girl Summer (Feat. Nicki Minaj & Ty Dolla $ign)
After the entire Summer of 2019 was copiously referred to as "Hot Girl Summer" across Twitter and in contemporary music circles Megan has finally dropped the song whose namesake represents the craze and some big featured names in Nicki and Ty come along with it.
5. Katy Perry - Small Talk
After really susprising with her first single earlier this year Katy returns with a strong placement in one of the most competitive weeks in months, just barely nabbing a top five spot. With her eyes on a new era a second great single would go a long way to recouping fans who ditched after not enjoying Witness.
6. Brockhampton - If You Pray Right
After starting the Ginger era off with a questionable lead single Brockhampton returns in typical fashion the very next week with another single that hopes to pull fans using the bands namesake and hopefully improve upon the first track.
7. SiR - Hair Down (Feat. Kendrick Lamar)
After announcing the very same joint promotional deal that turned SZA into an overnight superstar SiR recruits fellow Top Dawg Entertainment signee Kendrick Lamar for a track that hopes to see him climb to a higher peak than his already solid debut record last year.
8. 6LACK - Seasons (Feat. Khalid)
Coming off a string of high profile and popular features 6LACK recruits young and high demand feature Khalid for a contemporary R&B crossover tune with mega-hit potential.
9. Dram - The Lay Down (Feat. H.E.R & watt)
Dram is back after dropping a well received EP last year to likely once again work his way into the hearts of music fans with warm vocals and an absolutely sugary attitude that is impossible to not love.
10. Ariel Pink - So Glad
Ariel Pink shows up out of nowhere with a pair of singles that seem to be branded as Haunted Graffitti pieces, which would make it the groups first official release under that name since 2010, but in all likelihood they are just some new bouncy synth pop jams from one of the genres best.
11. Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds - This Is The Place
After the year Liam has been having Noel just couldn't be left out and has dropped a constant stream of perpetually underwhelming singles on the road to what will probably be a very bland but tolerable EP.
12. Cupcakke - Whoregasm
Raunchy as ever Cupcakke returns with a provocatively titled track that is sure to feature some squeal inducing one liners and probably some pretty sharp flows.
13. Bat For Lashes - The Hunger
Bat For Lashes is still looking for a true era defining single but given the consistent quality of her releases there is no reason not to expect good things from The Hunger.
14. Joywave - Obsession
Constantly underrated indie rock band Joywave returns with a single that may not be turning heads consistently but should certainly be a unique piece of electronica infused rock.
15. !!! - This Is The Door
!!! barely holds on for the second time this year with another single leading up to their upcoming record and a chance to reach some of the groups former glory.
